Four generations of the Solmundson family lived on Hecla Island between the original settlement by the Icelandic settlers over 100 years ago and the opening of Hecla Provincial Park in 1970. In 1987 the Solmundson’s  modernized and renovated their family home to open the Gesta Hús. Jonathan and Sydney took over the running of the B&B in 2019.
